Good morning TEACH families!
We have several important announcements to share with you this morning!!
- We will begin hosting mental health workshops via Zoom starting THIS WEEK for our TEACH families both in English and Spanish!! Health provide Dignity Health will lead a 7-part series every other Wednesday starting this upcoming Wednesday, March 11th, from 9 am-10 am entitled Mind Matters: Overcoming Adversity and Building Resilience. The first week's topic is entitled Self-Soothing: Relaxation Exercises. This series aims to support youth and adults in managing stress and trauma. Participants will learn self-soothing skills and mindfulness strategies to handle adversity, addressing physical, relational, and mental health needs. Please join us here. - As a reminder MyLA311 connects residents to popular city services and information through its call center, website and mobile app. This includes reporting illegal dumping, trash collection issues, potholes, graffiti, street light outages, parking enforcement, animal services, bulky item pick-up, etc. All you need to do is dial 311 or 213-473-3231. The call center's hours of operations are Monday-Friday from 7am-7pm and weekends/holidays from 8am-5pm. Please visit myla311.lacity.org for more information. Please see attached flyer.
- Everyone is invited to a great public art space that will officially open on Saturday, March 14th from 11am-6pm very near our TEACH campuses! Titled, Sister Dreamer Sculpture Park by South Los Angeles artist, Lauren Halsey, it is an architectural ode to our community. The art commits itself to extracting the essence and heart of Los Angeles and funneling it into a space that can be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. There will be a street fair, art, entertainment, many activities and many food vendors!! Parliament Funkadelic will be performing! Please see attached flyer. Please note: we will also be announcing a special event for our TEACH families at this public art space soon!
