Hello TEACH family, today we are currently in the middle of Week 7 in our second semester, having just moved beyond our first Progress Report of the term. I believe it is important for families and students to understand that the Progress Reports are meant to be a “snapshot“ of their current progress, meaning it does capture that moment in time, yet it is not something that is unchangeable.
As a matter of fact, many students attended last weekend’s Saturday School from 8 AM to 12:30 PM in order to complete missing work and recover absent time. We have five more Saturday School dates throughout the semester (3/14, 4/11, 4/25, 5/16, 6/6). With our continuing progress reports being sent out on the 8th of each month. Please know that you can contact teachers and send your student to Saturday School to make up any work that has affected their overall grade.
Outside of the classroom, we have some wonderful things taking place here at TTCHS. Last week, our counselor, Ms. Haydel, escorted a group of young ladies, two from each grade level, to a women’s leadership forum being held at the LA County Courthouse. Here, our students joined others for presentations from various women in the legal field.
Today, 2/25, marked the return of our “Way to Go Wednesdays” awards presentation. This week, we recognized our Semester 1 Honor Roll students and those students who showed the largest amount of “growth” on our recent NWEA standardized testing. Our students were enticed to do well in this battery of tests with the chance for one select student from each grade level who showed the most growth to release a little steam as they toss whipped cream pies at yours truly, the Principal, during “W2GW”!
This Saturday, 2/28, 5 PM, at the UCLA Health Training Center, during the Southbay Lakers G-League game, our own RAMS Cheer Squad will be performing at halftime!
Finally, coming up on March 17, the NAEP (National Assessment of Educational Progress) will be on campus, testing the academic capability of our senior students in Reading and Math. I know that our soon-to-be graduates have been working hard on all their subjects and will perform great!
Please be on the lookout for further notices of what’s happening here at TTCHS and how you can be a part.
Yours Truly,
Principal James Cordero
